Transition to Life After High School Coaching

For Autistic and Similarly Neurodivergent Individuals

I offer specialized coaching to support neurodivergent teens as they transition to life after high school, using ASD-informed exercises that provide a clear, manageable roadmap for this important phase.

Together, we break tasks into smaller, more approachable parts, ensuring the process feels comfortable and achievable for both teens and their families.

You can choose from teen-only coaching or parent/teen coaching. In parent/teen coaching, we establish a structure that helps you work together effectively, guiding parents to share the case manager role with their teens. We provide a preview of what to expect in post-secondary life, laying a solid foundation for transition planning. Topics we cover include:

  • Become familiar with your strengths, organizational style, learning style, social style, and the core features and associated features of your unique profile. This self-awareness builds the foundation for targeted self-care, self-advocacy, and self-disclosure, which are key skills for navigating life after high school.

  • Define your post-secondary vision and map out steps needed to achieve it. You will gain insight into the similarities and differences between high school and post-secondary life, helping you prepare for the journey ahead.

  • Learn to fully understand your IEP and how your school supports your profile-related needs. Understand who are the players on your support team, how to collaborate with them, and how to participate in IEP meetings. We’ll explore how to use this information, and these skills, to advocate effectively for services and support for your needs after high school.

  • Explore your social vision and learn the hidden rules of various social interactions – from acquaintances to romantic partners. You will also have the chance to practice these skills in high school, preparing for your post-secondary social life.

  • Understand your personal medical needs and history and how health and medical systems work. Learn how to start managing your mental and physical health and assume related responsibilities such as setting doctor appointments and learning how to utilize proactive health strategies. You will learn how to apply these skills in a post-secondary setting.

  • Pull everything together in a visual format so you can carry forward the learning and skills gained from coaching into your post-high school life.
